Having met Steve and Kay at a wedding show I was delighted when they booked an appointment to see me. Steve and Kay were planning a Renewal of Vows celebration and wanted to have a really special cake as a centre piece.
They both really liked the castle that had on display at the show and
following some discussion it was decided that a six tier castle would fit the
bill. I created their castle cake from four different flavours of cake. A tasty vanilla sponge, a delicious chocolate
sponge, two tiers of zesty lemon cake and topped with two tiers of moist carrot
cake.
The occasion was a celebration of their marriage and of the family they have. Their children were a key part of the design and it was decided to position them on and in the castle. I created the two boys leaning out of castle windows one playing a game with headphones on and the other with a chef’s hat (apparently Cake Boss is his favourite show!) I made models of the two girls one doing some sewing (I made an escaped cotton reel on the base of the cake as I was informed that she was rather messy and untidy!), and the other cuddling one of their many dogs.
The celebration was held at the Grange Hotel at Winterbourne. It was lovely to see Steve when I delivered the cake. He was delighted with his castle cake. I am writing this on the day of the event so have not heard Kay’s reaction and that of the children yet. I will add their comments when I receive them.
Once again a castle cake has proved to be the perfect way to make a really spectacular, special centrepiece for a wonderful celebration.
Congratulations Kay and Steve and I wish you all the best for many, many more happy years together with your family.
