Mr and Mrs Wedding Cupcakes
For Sophie’s wedding at Priston Mill Barn this summer she wanted to have a wedding cake which incorporated her colour scheme of rich ivory and gold. During a very enjoyable consultation the decision was made that cupcakes would fit best with her wedding plans. Along with the cupcakes I designed a top cake. Most brides who choose cupcakes for their wedding opt to have a top cake which allows for the tradition of cutting the wedding cake with the groom to still be observed.

The top cake was decorated with ivory hearts, topped with hand crafted ivory roses, and finished with a wide band of sparkly gold organza ribbon. The cupcakes each had a swirl of vanilla frosting and were decorated with the lettering Mr, Mrs or a pair of hearts in gold and ivory. Each cake was then hand finished with a scattering of gold and hand tied with a band of the same organza ribbon which was used for the top cake.
The cakes and top cake were displayed on a seven tier wedding cupcake stand. The colours worked beautifully against the mellow stone walls of the barn. As an extra I also placed a number of the cupcakes in transparent boxes tied with organza ribbon for Sophie’s guests to take home as an edible memento of the day.
Sophie was delighted with her cakes and I was very pleased to hear that not only were they impressed with the look of the cakes but thought they were delicious too. This is what I always like to hear as I pride myself that not only do my cakes look wonderful but they taste lovely too!
